What is Anthroposophic Medicine?

b15

Anthroposophic Medicine is a holistic form of medicine based on the indications of Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925). A scientist of the spirit, Rudolf Steiner gave insights into the human being and the complex relationship of the body, soul and spirit. The disharmony of this complex is the main source of illness and anthroposophic medicine strives to re-establish the harmony of the organism through its medicines and therapies. The medicines are derived from plants, minerals and animal products and then carefully prepared through special processes, which unlock the medicinal potential of the substance. These potentized medicines are similar to Homoepath medicines. Other medicines are similar to herbal preparations or come in the form of massage oils and creams, which are topically applied.

Anthroposophic medicine also uses other treatments such as massage, curative eurthymy and art therapy in treating the patient. Biographic analysis of the patient can also provide insights into the origins of the person’s illness

Training of practitioners is now worldwide and is conducted under the medical section of the anthroposophical society based in Switzerland. Training is available in Australia. Anthroposophic doctors are trained in mainstream medicine as well as receiving postgraduate training in anthroposophic medicine.
